    4. Why can't I login to my account?
There are a few things you can check to make sure you're entering the right information. Firstly, your username is your complete email address, such as me@mydomain.com. Also make sure that you enter your password using the same letter-casing as you did when you signed up. For example, if you had the caps-lock key on when you signed up and your password was ALL UPPERCASE, then you will need to enter the password in uppercase when you login.

You can always request your password be re-sent to your email address by clicking the "Forgot Password" link beneath the login form. You can even copy and paste your password directly from your email into the login form to make sure you've entered it absolutely right.

Please refer to the help section of your web browser or security software for further information.
    6. Cookies seem to be enabled, but I still can't login. What gives?
Our moderators clear out all unconfirmed accounts twice a week, so chances are that if you signed up but forgot to click the confirmation link in the email that we sent to you then your account was probably deleted. If you're positive that you confirmed your account and you've tried everything above, please Contact us for technical support.
    7. How do I change my password?

    8. I forgot my password!

  • About Public Domain (TV Classics)

    1. What is Public Domain?
WasabiTV has done extensive research to bring you the best of International TV, and our partners have helped us bring you the best of the Public Domain!

In the United States a film goes into the Public Domain if:

    1. The film was never registered for copyright. Years ago, producers were required by the Library of Congress (LOC) to send in a 35 mm print for registration. This was too expensive for some producers. Many of the producers just forgot to file for copyright, went out of business, or deliberately chose not to file for copyright as the movie was done as a tax write-off. After a"reasonable time" the film fell into the Public Domain.

    2. Until the law was changed in 1992, the copyright holder was required to renew the copyright in the 28th year. On January 1st of the 29th year, if a renewal wasn't filed with the LOC, the film fell into the Public Domain. After the law changed in 1992, any film that had fallen into the Public Domain (which covered all those produced prior to 1964) would remain in the Public Domain forever. All those films registered after 1963 would not be required to renew the copyright before the end of 28th year. The copyright would continue for a full 75 years (later extended to 95 years).

    3. The film had to have a copyright notice on the front or at the end of the film, and many filmmakers simply forgot to include the information. It had to read "Copyright 19__, (Name of company or Individual)". This occurred quite a few times over the years.

Most of the countries of the world are signatories to the Berne Copyright Convention. Under Berne Rules, if a film is in the Public Domain in the Country of Origin, it is considered to be in the Public Domain in all Berne Countries. Therefore, a film produced in the USA and in the Public Domain would be in the Public Domain everywhere unless it is listed as a coproduction with another country (i.e. USA/UK). We do suggest that you always check with your legal advisors, as we cannot know or keep up with changes in each country's laws and regulations.

If you have any questions or legal concerns regarding the public domain content, please do not hesitate to Contact Us.
